Wednesday January 23, 2019-A 23-year-old man claiming to be a member of Al-Shabaab terror group has surrendered himself to police.
The man surrendered at Nakuru Central Police Station claiming to have been a member of the Somalia-based terror group and was fearing for his life. This was confirmed by county police boss, Samuel Obara, who said the man surrendered to the station on Sunday. “He turned up at the station unarmed,” Obara said. According to Obara, the terror suspect was questioned immediately at the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nakuru. “He told police he joined the terror group in September 2018 and had been trained for five months,” Obara said. The man is said to have escaped from an al-Shabaab training camp at Bombolulu, Mombasa and said he was fearing for his life.
