Ferdinand Omanyala, Kenyan sprinter who specializes in the 100m and 200m events. He is currently the African record holder and 8th fastest man of all-time in the 100 metres after clocking a time of 9.77 on 18th Sep 2021 in Nairobi.

In a very brief statement posted on Monday 27th September 2021, DBA Sports says it has ended its sponsorship for African 100 metre record holder.

“DBA Africa ceases the association with Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala. We are proud to have played a huge role in enabling him to compete around the continent resulting in attaining 4 qualifying times for the Tokyo Olympic Games and achieving many National Records and Personal Bests,” the firm wrote.

It is not clear the reason for the termination of the contract as DBA did not elaborate and attempts to reach the association proved futile. However, the talent scouting entity wished the sprinter well in his future endeavour.

“We would like to take this opportunity to wish Ferdinand well in his future career,” the statement ended

Pundits believe Omanyala’s association with politicians was the cause.

After his exploits at the Olympic and at the Kipkeino Classic, the sprinter has met several politicians, got endorsed by a gaming firm among other media appearances.
