Two suspects charged alongside Migori governor Okoth Obado in the murder case of the Rongo University student Sharon Otieno now want Justice Jessie Lessit to step aside on basis of bias and discrimination.
The governor’s former personal assistant Michael Oyamo and former Migori county clerk Caspal Obiero have accused Justice Lessit of drawing conclusions and making a predetermined impression against them in the University student’s murder case.
Justice Jessie Lessit has until 19th of next month to determine whether she will recuse herself from hearing the murder case.
The duo who successfully appealed their detention at the court of appeal argued that the move by Justice Lessit to release Obado on bail and declining their bail application demonstrate bias and discrimination by the judge.

Obado who is a key suspect in the murder case is not a party to the application and was released by Justice Lessit under stringent bail terms including 5 million shillings cash bail with two sureties of a similar amount.
However, Oyamo and Obiero were confined in remand prison until they rushed to the appellate court where they were released on a 1 million shillings cash bail.
Preliminary findings into the death of Sharon Otieno last year who was seven months pregnant revealed she was brutally murderd alongside her unborn baby. Her body was dumped at Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County.
The deceased body had stab wounds indicating she was attacked with a sharp object.
In another development, Kisumu governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o alongside his sister Dr Risper Nyagoy will know their fate Thursday as Kisumu high court gives its verdict for contempt of court.
The two are facing a six-month imprisonment after the high court last week found them guilty of contempt of court in a case touching their father’s multi-million estate.
