Asian Betting and Gaming Enterprises Africa Ltd, trading as Dafabet, have written to Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) seeking clarity after their license was not renewed.

Asian Betting insist they have met all conditions set out, but were taken aback when BCLB Chairman Cyrus Maina wrote to them saying their application lacks merit on account of set license conditions.

“In light of this, may we seek clarification from your office on the following matters; details of compliance matters being investigated by BCLB. If we can be informed of these compliance matters we can provide you with proof of compliance on our end,” the Asian betting letter, which The Standard has seen.

It has also emerged that BetLion, which launched its operations in Kenya last year, is among seven betting firms whose licenses have been renewed by the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB).

A letter seen by The Standard reveals that BetLion, home to Africa’s largest Jackpot worth Sh350 million had its license application approved; and were notified on June 28 after fulfilling all conditions demanded by BCLB.
