The paramilitary side thrashed Nairobi Prisons in straight sets (25-12, 25-15, 25-19) before overcoming a resilient Kenya Ports Authority 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20).
But the surprise of the day was in the women’s matches when national head coach Japheth Munala returned to haunt his former club Kenya Pipeline as KCB stunned the Embakasi-based side 3-1 (25-21, 33-31, 25-19, 25-13).
Experienced left attacker Noel Murambi, right attacker Violet Makuto, utility player Leonida Kasaya and Jemima Siangu were all involved in the drubbing of former employers.
It was a good bounce back for the bankers after losing 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-15) to defending champions Prisons Kenya in their season opener.
“The players were composed and they gave their all in today’s game, beating African bronze medallists wasn’t easy. We had to devise a strategy that worked to our advantage,” Munala said.
