Nipsey Hussle died earlier today morning after being shot 6 times. The rapper continues a sad trend of artistes lives being cut short after been the victims of homicides.

Below is a list of some other rappers who have died from gunshot wounds:

Tupac

This is probably the most famous of the bunch. The rapper was shot after he left a Mike Tyson fight on the Las Vegas strip, in July 1996. He died a week later in hospital.

The rapper who is regarded as the goat by some died at the tender age of 24. To this day, his killers have never been found.

Notorious BIG

The rapper most compared with Tupac Shakur met his death a year later under the barrage of bullets. He was 24.

Hip-Hop’s brightest lights had been snuffed out in the span of one year. There was speculation that Biggie’s death was revenge for Tupac’s murder.

Soulja Slim

The rapper best-known for the number one hit, ‘Slow motion‘ was murdered on November 26, 2003, after an assailant shot him four times, three in the face and once in the chest.

He was shot on the front lawn of the home of his mother and stepfather, Phillip “Tuba Phil” Frazier of Rebirth Brass Band, in the Gentilly neighbourhood.

Jam Master Jay

The DJ of the influential hip hop group Run-D.M.C was shot on October 30, 2002, at 7:30 pm. An unknown person fatally shot him in a Merrick Boulevard recording studio in Jamaica, Queens.

Dolla

The rapper who became famous for his club banger, ‘Make a toast’ breathed his last on May 18, 2009. He was shot by 23-year-old Aubrey Louis Berry who claimed that he had done it in self-defence.

Proof

This rapper most associated with Eminem was shot on April 11, 2006. Proof was shot three times by Mario Etheridge, once in the head and twice in the chest, after a dispute broke out during a game of billiards at the CCC Club on 8 Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan.

Marvin Gaye

This is a bonus right here as he wasn’t a rapper. The singer who became famous for his song, ‘Sexual Healing’ was shot by his father on April 1, 1984, while Gaye was in his bedroom. His father, Marvin Gay Sr., shot Gaye in the heart and then in his left shoulder.

Minutes earlier, the two men had been involved in a physical altercation when Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents.
