Three Police Reservists Arrested Over Fatal Shooting of Two People

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested three police reservists over the alleged murder of two people on 21st June, 2021, in Elwak area, Mandera County.

Ali Abdi Ali, Mohamed Ibrahim Issack and Ahmed Mohamed Abdilatif from the National Police Reserve (NPR) were arrested on Thursday, 26th by Elwak-based detectives

The trio will now be charged with the cold blood murder of Kulow Adfan Hassan and Ahmed Abdi Garad.

According to sleuths, on the fateful evening, the suspects were reported to have shot at a Toyota Succeed ferrying passengers through Elwak Dololo road enroute to Wajir, a shooting that left two occupants dead.

“The driver had then driven to Elwak Police Station and reported the incident, where search for the perpetrators and subsequent investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting was initiated,” the DCI said in a statement.

The three suspects had since been positively identified by the survivors of the shooting.

They are in custody pending arraignment for relevant charges.

Completion of investigations where two men were on June 21, 2021 shot dead by National Police Reservists (NPR) in Mandera's Elwak area has today seen three NPR officers arrested.
