Two men in court over owl eggs valued at Sh2 million

Two men have been charged for being in possession of owl eggs illegally.

Francis Lumba and Maina Mwangi were charged before Loitokitok Law Courts.

The Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku heard that on October 7 at Kimana market, the two were found with two owl eggs valued at Sh2 million.

They denied the charges.

Daud Muhammed, Kenya Wildlife Services officer attached to Amboseli National Park, who was testifying before the court, said he received report that the two were in possession of the eggs and looking for a buyer at Kimana market.

Together with a colleague and the informer, Muhammed proceeded to Kimana pretending to be buyers.

They met the suspects and after introducing themselves, they conducted a search and found the eggs, which were then sent to National Museum of Kenya for analysis. Case was adjourned to December 20.
