Deputy President William Ruto became an online sensation on Sunday, 19 Jul 2020 after a video of him sharing a meal with his Sugoi employees went viral.
The video showed Ruto, who was wearing gumboots, having a plate of githeri prepared by one of the residents.
The DP caused a stir after claiming that the maize was not well cooked with the cook blaming it on the firewood that she had used.

The video attracting both praise and criticism in equal measure.

I remember Dp Ruto and president Uhuru eating in a kibanda before 2017 general election. We were amazed by this.some said they are simple leaders and ended up voting for them based on that. Since 2018 have you seen Uhuru taking his meal in a kibanda?

He, supposedly, donates millions to churches but can't even dignify his own staffs – who make him profits – with decent housing?! Somebody tell this Sugoi #MasterOfMasquerades that 'charity begins at home.'
