Uhuru’s Evening Surprise to Homa Bay Residents: ‘Nitarudi Na Baba’

President Uhuru Kenyatta has this evening made an impromptu visit to Mbita constituency, Homa Bay County.

In a video circulating on social media platforms, the President can be seen addressing the locals and he looked happy.

The Head of State preached about peace and unity ahead of the August General Election. He urged the residents to practice political tolerance.

“Let us not be divided by politics. I urge all of you to maintain peace and order as we approach the main poll,” he said.

President Kenyatta also praised ODM leader Raila Odinga for agreeing to work with him and allowing him to implement his manifesto.

“The ‘Handshake’ has been good. I will return here very soon with baba (Raila) and we will talk more. God bless you,” he said.

The President’s unity call came at a time when several politicians have been censured and are being investigated for making utterances that have caused a public outcry for bearing hallmarks of incitement.

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, his Kericho counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot, and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka are being probed over remarks that could potentially trigger violence.

Before the visit, the Kenyan leader was in Kisumu County to inspect the ongoing construction of MV Uhuru II Wagon Ferry at Kisumu Shipyard.

The President was accompanied by Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kariuki Kibochi.
