Xiaomi has today introduced yet another smartphone series in the local market.

The Redmi 10 2022, an upgrade of the Redmi 10 as we previously knew it, is now available for purchase countrywide via online and offline channels.

The 2022 Redmi 10 packs a 6.5-inch Full HD+ DotDisplay with a 90Hz refresh rate.

“It also features AdaptiveSync technology which lowers power consumption and extends battery life by adjusting the refresh rate based on the content being viewed,” says a statement from the company.

Other specifications include a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, a choice of 4 and 6GB RAM options and 64 and 128GB internal storage configurations (expandable all the way to 512GB), a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging, a 50-megapixel quad AI camera setup comprising the main 50-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a pair of 2-megapixel macro and depth sensors.

The Redmi 10 2022 runs on MIUI 12.5 which is based on Android 11.

Pricing for the device is as follows:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage – at Kshs 19,499
  • 4GB RAM + 128GB onboard storage – Kshs 21,499
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB onboard storage – Kshs 22,799

The device comes in Carbon Gray and Sea Blue colour options.

The Redmi 10 2022 is also part of the Android Enterprise Recommended programme.

The local launch of the 2022 Redmi 10 comes hot on the heels of a string of smartphone releases from Xiaomi both from the main brand as well as the Redmi sub-brand. In the past month alone, we have seen the brand release to the Kenyan market, through its local distributors, the Redmi 10A, which belongs to the old Redmi 10 series, and the Poco M4 Pro, from the Poco sub-brand.

A little earlier, Xiaomi had also released the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G and the entire Redmi Note 11 and Xiaomi 12 series to the Kenyan market, too.

While the Xiaomi 12 series caters to the upper end of the market, the Redmi and Redmi Note devices hold forte at the entry and mid-range levels, allowing the company to offer something for just about every customer’s budget.
