170 test positive as four succumb to Covid-19



170 people have tested positive for Covid-19, from a sample size of 3,659 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing total confirmed positive cases to 320,399.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, out of the cases, 143 are Kenyans while 27 are foreigners.

86 females and 84 are females with the youngest being a nine-month-old child while the oldest is 118 years.

The positivity rate is now at 4.7% with cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,189,945.

The statement reads that 556 patients have recovered from the disease, 506 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 50 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 291,917 of whom 239,954 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 51,963 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Unfortunately, four patients have succumbed to Covid-19, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audit in the month of January 2022.

This pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,558.

Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (61), 10-19 years (42), 20- 29 (148), 30-39 years (398), 40-49 years (640), 50-59 years (1,016), 60 years and above (3,253).

A total of 721 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,733 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

40 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 38 of them on ventilatory support while two are on supplemental oxygen.

Another 159 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 158 of them are in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
