Action galore as Kenya Cup takes shape
With two teams tied at the summit of the Kenya Cup standings, the fight for top spot is set to take centre stage as the rugby league enters its fifth round.
League leaders Kabras Sugar who are joint top with KCB will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent record when they lock horns with Blak Blad at the Kakamega Showground.
Blak Blad’s poor defensive record in the league is something Kabras will be looking to capitalize on while maintaining the rock-solid defense that has seen them concede only one try so far.
Champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) who are second on the log with 20 points as Kabras but with inferior goal difference will host third-placed Homeboyz at the Ruaraka Sports Club.
In what promises to be fireworks, the Bankers who are on a 20-match unbeaten streak take on Homeboyz who have had a tidy start to the season winning their first four matches.
Few metres away from Kakamega Showground, Western Bulls fondly known as Echulusi will be hunting for their second win of the season as they face Top Fry Nakuru at the Bull ring.
Nakuru will be buoyed by their remarkable comeback last weekend when they rallied from behind to defeat Kenya Harlequins 25-18.
Meanwhile, Harlequins will be hoping to overturn their poor form when they face Menengai Oilers at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi.
The Oilers have an amazing record against the Quins and will look to extend that record and bounce back from their last weekend battering at the hands of KCB.
At the same time, Kevin Wambua’s Mwamba RFC will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they host Nondescripts on Saturday at the Nairobi Railway Club.
Nondescripts will be as well charged for this encounter having been whitewashed 40-15 by Kabras in their last match.
Kisumu RFC will be at their Mamboleo backyard to battle it out with Impala Saracens as they attempt to improve on their position 11.
