- Lacazette is working his way back to full fitness ahead of new season
- The 28-year-old suffered an ankle injury during the Gunners defeat to Lyon in the Emirates Cup
- Lacazette will missed the north Londoners friendly game against Angers
Alexandre Lacazette is currently facing a race against time to be fit for Arsenal's Premier League opener against Newcastle United at Saint James' Park on Sunday, August 11.
The Frenchman suffered an ankle injury in the Gunners' 2-1 defeat to Lyon in the Emirates Cup final last weekend.
SunSport however reports that the striker joined the rest of the squad for warm-down training at the club’s London Colney headquarters earlier this week.
His striking partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped a short video on social media - showing Lacazette working his way back to full fitness alongside Shkodran Mustafi at the gym.
In the short clip, the 28-year-old forward was without the protective boots which Arsenal insist he wore for precautionary measures.
He is also unsure for the Gunners' final preseason clash against Barcelona at the Camp Nou this coming weekend.
Unai Emery however believes the £52 million striker will be back in time to face Newcastle in their opening EPL game.
"We are thinking it’s not serious,” Emery said after that game.
“He tried to continue but he decided with the doctor and with me that as it was a pre-season game it was better to take no more risks," he added.
The duo of Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac also joined Lacazette at the training ground having being omitted from Sunday’s game.
