Arsenal, Man United opponents in Europa League 2019/20 season

The Europa League draw done on Friday afternoon has given football fans interesting fixtures, with the matches expected to start mid-September.

Last year's finalists, Arsenal alongside Premier League rivals Manchester United have been handed fair draws, with the latter having quite a real jaunt around Europe.

Arsenal opponents

The Gunners, who are in Group F, will face Portugal's Vitoria, Belgium's Standard Liege as well as Eintracht Frankfurt of German.

Frankfurt had a good campaign in the competition last season, losing out in the semifinals against eventual winners Chelsea.

On paper, the Germans are the only side that can trouble the Gunners and might have been weakened from the side that impressed in Europe, having lost one of their key players in Luka Jovic to Real Madrid.

Standard Liege has started the season well in Belgian top-tier League, and are currently atop the standings ahead of Club Brugge.

They will prove stubborn at the end of the day, but with the Gunners' quality, they might come out unscathed at all.

Vitoria seems like they will be the group's whipping boys, but as always, surprises can spring any moment in such competitions.

Verdict

Arsenal to qualify as group winners ahead of Frankfurt.

Manchester United

Manchester United are familiar with the competition, having won it in 2017 under Jose Mourinho. They will have trips to Kazakstan, Serbia and the Netherlands.

The group is fair for Ole Gunnar's side, with AZ Alkmaar their perceived strongest opponents, even though they've not met before.

If United can avoid sloppiness, they will qualify as outright group winners and can go all the way to the finals, just like in 2017.
