Aston Villa won their first premier league match of the season after Wesley and Anwar El Ghazi were on target to make it 2-0 to the home team at Villa Park.
It was also the first win for the newly promoted Premier League club since getting relegated to the Championship after losing to Manchester United in 2016.
Wesley was first off the mark in the 21st minute, after a perfectly-weighted pass by Jota breached the Toffees defensive setup for the first time this season, to find Wesley who buried the ball in the corner.
Former Arsenal star Alex Iwobi, made his entry cladded in his new Blues jersey that will take some time to get used to and instantly made an impact for Marko Silva's side in the second half.
Walcott also pulled level with the hosts but missed Everton golden opportunity to steal points from Dean Smith but was unable to find the target after Moise Kean's crisp cross.
