Breaking Statement: Arrest Of Cyprian Nyakundi Media Reporter

Published

on

Today, 4th of December 2018, Cyprian Nyakundi sent a team member to cover a protest by bankers protesting against impunity and corruption within BIFU.

This is after we verified that they had genuine concerns against the secretary general who is accused of illegally employing his daughter as the BIFU legal officer.

Our team was also motivated by the fact that the bankers have concerns about cases KCB CEO Joshua Oigara has colluded with Isaiah Kubai to kill after allegedly being bribed by the biggest bank in Kenya. EACC, ODPP and DCI have all refused to probe these cases and take action exposing institutions that might have been compromised.

Today, while covering the event a team member was arrested for a crime of covering an illegal activity despite the event being legal.

We had reported a few days ago that Central police station officers might have been compromised by Oigara and Kubai to arrest the officials whose crime is demanding for their rights and now it has been confirmed.

Oigara is protescting Kubai

It is surely a dark day for Kenya if innocent protesting bankers and a reporter live streaming an event are arrested for speaking out.

he flagrant abuse of people’s constitutional rights is wrong and must be condemned. It appears that the gains touted by the establishment, are just a facade, and that we are firmly rooted in the ideals of dictatorship.

If such resources were deployed to fight crime, arrest terrorists and the corrupt individuals who’ve plundered our taxes denying Kenyans opportunities, then we would respect the police. But using massive resources to arrest people exercising their rights is wrong.

Cyprian Nyakundi hereby condemns the central police station officers, for being misused as someone’s private property. It’s these acts that make the public lose trust in the Police Service as a whole.

Cyprian Nyakundi now calls for the unconditional release of his press member and the bankers
