Bribery, sex exploits and intense lobbying have dogged Mombasa county as Governor Hassan Joho toys with constituting his executive months after its predecessor’s term expired.
Weekly Citizen has information that the governor’s brother, Abubakar Joho, and his key allies, among them assembly speaker are part of the kitchen cabinet being involved. It has emerged those eyeing the seats have been using millions to influence appointment. The delay is part of the strategy to have those involved mint millions. Joho had promised to name the cabinet immediately. The entire cabinet was sent packing on November 12 after the expiry of two-year contracts.
Joho had promised to name a new cabinet in days and ruled outgoing executives being considered.

It is imperative to note that when he won his second term, Joho retained Fatuma Awale, Hazel Koitaba and Tawfiq Balala. Koitaba is close to the Joho family.
Those Joho removed from is cabinet are deputy governor William Kingi, who held the education docket. Kingi is likely to land a cabinet slot by virtue of being Joho’s deputy. Those unlikely to make a comeback are Maryam Mbaruk (finance), Godfrey Nato (environment), Munywoki Kyalo (youth and sports), Seth Odongo (devolution), Fawz Rashid (trade and tourism), Edward Nyale (lands) and Hassan Mwamtoa of agriculture and fisheries. Awale, due to pressure, has decided to concentrate on personal business.
