The Englishman has not found it rosy at United with lack of active playing time and injuries slowing down his progress.

Chelsea’s interest came hours after Man United handler Ole Solskjaer explained Gomes has not signed a new contract at Old Trafford.

Already, clubs in Spain, Germany and Italy have shown interest to sign the youngster this summer with Paris-Saint-Germain said to be leading the race.

But according to the Independent, Chelsea want to use the chance of his current contract situation to lure him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The publication claim Gomes has rejected an offer of £25,000 with bonuses to stay at Old Trafford with the player believing he can get better offers elsewhere.

This season, the Red Devils academy graduate has been limited to just six games this season under Solskjaer.

The 19-year-old is expected to leave at the end of June when his contract expires.

It was gathered Gomes was offered a new deal, but he and his representatives could not agree with the terms
