It was believed Dasilva would be in line to be handed a chance to shine in Chelsea's first team during the upcoming pre-season.

This was in light of the club's two-window transfer ban slapped on them by world football governing body, FIFA.

However, the Blues have decided to let the promising 21-year-old defender for good, penning a four-year deal with the Championship side.

“We saw first-hand last season just how talented Jay is and he quickly earned the respect of the City supporters," Bristol’s chief executive Mark Ashton said after the transfer.
“His talents are clear for all to see and I am delighted we have been able to make Jay a permanent figure at this football club," he added.

The left-back joined Chelsea from boyhood club Luton aged 13, winning three FA Youth Cups as part of the academy.

He also had a loan spell with Charlton where he was voted Fans’ Player of the Year before moving to Bristol.

He has since earned a call-up with England's Under-21s, where he has won a spot in their squad for the European Under-21 Championship in Italy.
