West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello has invited auditors to audit funds that were contributed towards landslide and floods victims in Nyarkulian, Parua and Tamkal areas in West Pokot County.
This after a section of leaders from the County alleged Ksh 3 million can’t be accounted for.
Okello asked the DCI, EACC and the Auditor general to investigate the claims to establish if the funds were well utilized.
The Commissioner said his office received ten million shillings which came from the Chinese government which was supposed to resettle those who were displaced after the landslide that claimed over fifty lives.

Okello says a total sum of ksh 7,163,200 was paid to 223 families who were affected and the remaining balance of Ksh 2,884,800 is still intact at KCB BANK.
He said there is need to audit the National and County Government as well as Red Cross for accountability purposes.
Okello says the Kenya Red Cross requested for over 7 million from his office to pay for the families that were affected and he tasked his account clerks who accompanied Kenya Red Cross officials to make the payments.
He said the multi agency team will review the Balance and give a way forward on how the funds should be used.
The County Commissioner said it was unfortunate for leaders to incite locals and propagate falsehoods without seeking facts from the authorities concerned.
This comes after the area Governor John Lonyangapuo claimed that funds meant to support flood victims were missing.
