The suspect is reported to have shot his victim at close range after quarreling over a government vehicle.

A senior Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer based in Nairobi on Thursday night shot and killed a police constable allegedly in a quarrel over a government vehicle.

Chief Inspector Duncan Maina of DCI headquarters shot Evanson Kipngetich Busienei near Thindigua Police Post in Kiambu.

According to police reports, the victim, who was in the company of another man, allegedly stopped Maina and demanded he be given the vehicle he was driving.

BULLET WOUNDS

Mr Maina informed his colleague that the vehicle bearing registration number KAU 429U belonged to the DCI.

The report also adds that Maina gave the victim a warning that he would shoot him but he did not heed the warnings.

This prompted Maina to stop the vehicle, draw his pistol and shot Busienei at close range.

He then shot towards the other man accompanying Busienei, but the unidentified man took cover in a construction site and was not injured.

SPENT CARTRIDGES

The body of the deceased was found at the scene with two bullet exit wounds on the back and two more wounds on the chin.

Also found on the crime scene were four spent cartridges of 9mm.

The victim’s body was later taken to Kenyatta University mortuary pending an autopsy.

The DCI officer has since been disarmed as investigations commence.

The matter was reported at Thindigua police post under OB 2/23/11/2018 at midnight.
