- Oliech's alleged involvement in politics and general misconduct is said to have informed Gor Mahia's decision to end their association with the striker
- The former Harambee Stars captain is rumoured to be eyeing the vacant Kibra parliamentary seat
- Gor believes such a move would cause discontent among fans and even paint the club in bad light
Gor Mahia have terminated the contract of Dennis Oliech, just months after the legendary striker joining the club.
Gor signed Oliech on a two-year contract in January 2019, in a deal that saw him emerge one of the league's highest-paid players.
Kenya Premier League champions however appear to have resolved to part ways with the iconic striker who has previously plied his trade with top European teams.
In a statement posted on K'Ogalo's website, the club alluded to Oliech's below par performances as one of the reasons they resolved to end their association with the player.
The outfit further divulged Oliech had been found guilty of misconduct, after reportedly missing training sessions without prior permission.
" You are and have been guilty of serious misconduct and continued poor performance on the field of play especially you have without reason therefore and without prior permission from the head coach, the team manager or any other duly authorized club official absented yourself on numerous diverse days from training thereby denying the club the opportunity to field you as a striker," the statement said.
The decision by the former Harambee Stars' captain to allegedly submit himself as a candidate for the vacant Kibra parliamentary seat is also understood to have influenced the club's decision to terminate the deal.
The Steven Pollack-tutored side argues such a move would possibly 'portray the club in bad light' and possibly brew discontentment among supporters.
"You have offered yourself as a candidate for popular political elections, a move likely to portray the club in a bad light, cause disaffection among club’s supporters and fans," K'Ogalo submitted.
