Andre Wisdom has been hospitalised after he was stabbed multiple times by suspected hoodlums in the city of Liverpool.
According to BBC, the former Reds defender drove to the Merseyside to pick up a relative when the incident occurred.
Wisdom was involved in Derby County’s 2-1 win over Reading at the weekend before going to Toxteth/Wavertree area to pick a family member.
The 27-year-old was stabbed multiple times in an unprovoked assault and robbery before he was quickly rushed to hospital.
Championship club Derby County confirmed the incident, revealing the attack left Wisdom nursing serious injuries.
The defender is understood to be in stable condition and Derby have thrown their weight behind Wisdom in supporting his family during this difficult period.

Wisdom was a Liverpool academy graduate and was handed his first-team debut by Brendan Rodgers in 2012, before making a further 21 appearances for the Reds.
The former Liverpool star had loan spells with Derby West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City and Red Bull Salzburg before earning a permanent deal at Pride Park.
Wisdom was a member of the England U-17 side that won the European Championships in 2010 and later featured for the U21s.
