Diamond Platnumz may be forced to cancel the remainder of Wasafi festival after defying Mwanza ban.

Tanzania Arts regulatory Authority, BASATA (Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa) has banned all of Diamond’s shows after he recently performed the song ‘Mwanza’ which BASATA had banned

The song featuring Rayvanny was banned moments after its release a few weeks ago and the two were ordered to pull it down from Youtube and not perform it.

During the Wasafi festival Mwanza, the two performed the song amidst cheer from the crowd but the move did not sit well with BASATA.

Following the ban on his concerts, Diamond’s manager Babu Tale now says they will perform in all the shows then go back to Tanzania to face the consequences.

“The concerts will go on as planned. To be specific, all of them.” He said

Tale also added that they will reach out to BASATA to try and arrive at a solution.

The board issued a ban on the concerts on Tuesday 18th December.

“The board has reached a decision to formally ban Diamond and Rayvanny from holding performances in and outside Tanzania due to their indiscipline and disrespect to BASATA,” read part of BASATA’s statement
