Dr Margaret Nyakango was on Wednesday sworn in as the new controller of budget.
She was sworn in by Chief Justice David Maraga at the Supreme Court building.
This is after the National Assembly approved her nomination amid concerns about her advanced age.
Members of Parliament debating her nomination asked Nyakango to prioritize scrutiny of pending bills of 15 counties censored by the treasury before they said counties access their allocations to enhance accountability.

Dr Margaret Nyakango is set to become the second controller of budget taking over from Agnes Odhiambo who completed her fixed eight-year term in August this year.
However, some Members of Parliament raised concerns about Nyakango’s age noting that she is well past the civil service retirement age which might affect her ability to execute her mandate.
Legislators urged the new budget controller to expedite scrutiny of pending bills of 15 counties amounting to over Ksh 40 billion to ascertain genuine payments for accountability.
The National Assembly also wants the office of the controller of budget to be tabling county and national budgets and expenditure in the national assembly on a quarterly basis for auditing purposes.
Her appointment comes after the Council of Governors lamented over difficulties in paying salaries as they were unable to withdraw any funds from the revenue accounts due to the absence of the controller of budget.
