The president urges the Ministry of Sports’ Principal Secretary and Cabinet Secretary to look into the matter as consequences of pulling out of the aforementioned competitions may result into sanctions that will gravely affect our football development.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa is calling out on the Ministry of Sports to offer support to the Harambee Starlets and Harambee Stars ahead of assignments.

The Starlets are scheduled to play against Zambia in the Olympic Qualifier. The first leg will be played in Nairobi on November 8 with the second leg set to be played on November 12, in Zambia.

Harambee Stars on the other hand is set to travel to Egypt for their first leg of their AFCON Qualifier on November 11, 2019. The team plays Egypt in Cairo on November 15, 2019, and Togo four days later, on November 19, 2019, at the MISC Kasarani.

However, due to a lack of funding from the Sports Ministry, the National teams risk pulling out of these competitions.

“FKF has diligently communicated to the Sports Ministry and the Sports Fund to come in and fund the national teams. We have, however, not received any response from the Ministry, which is frustrating,” said FKF President Nick Mwendwa.

“We are calling out on the Ministry to come out with reasons why we cannot get funding from the Sports Fund despite having made numerous requests for the same,” he added.
