Chelsea fans are a disgruntled lot after Eden Hazard was picked over Olivier Giroud as the 2018/19 Player of the Year at the Europa League draw ceremony, held in Monaco on Friday.
The Real Madrid man's latest award has rubbed off Blues fans the wrong way with many fans arguing the Giroud's impact (goals,assists) in the tournament were way more impressive.
Eden Hazard only contributed two goals and one assist throughout the UEFA campaign, while Olivier Giroud scored the bulk of Chelsea's goals recording 11 goals and 5 assists.
Fans have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration and seek clarification on the matter that is chewing on their football logic and here is what the Stamford Bridge dwellers had to say;
And now that Hazard is now longer in Chelsea, the fans had no sympathy in pointing out the facts and denouncing their once untouchable hero as less deserving than the Les Blues forward.
One football fan went as far as questioning the credibility of the whole UEFA award, and felt it had now turned into a popularity contest rather than based on performance
"You just know these awards are just popularity contest and Perez pays for everything. No wonder Modric won the Ballon D'or," Ali tweeted.
