The club has announced that it will soon start charging anyone wishing to send their loved ones in a coffin bearing the official logo of the deceased's favourite club.

“Donning of coffins with Gor Mahia club log will attract some fee moving forward,” Gor Mahia Secretary General Ben Omondi said in a social media post.

This was after a photo of the coffin bearing the remains of a fan identified as John Otogo of Gor Mahia-Huruma Branch surfaced online.

Gor Mahia currently has no reliable source of revenue after their shirt sponsor-SportPesa pulled out of the deal due to the ongoing crackdown on betting firms in Kenya.

The record Kenyan champions, who will kick off their title defence against Tusker on Saturday in Kisumu, has been affecting a number of changes including the introduction of e-ticketing as they seek to streamline their revenue collection.
