Gor Mahia thrash Chemilil 2-0 to maintain seven-point lead

Reigning Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia registered a hard-fought 2-0 win over hosts Chemilil Sugar at Moi Stadium, Kisumu to remain seven points clear at the top of the log.

Midfield maestro Kenneth Muguna scored the opener for ‘Kogallo’ in the 36th minute while Samuel Ouma added the second in the 76th minute.

In an early kick-off match played at Machakos Stadium, Sofapaka walloped visitors Western Stima 2-0.

Kepha Aswani and John Avire scored for ‘Batoto Ba Mungu’ who occupy the second position on 56 points.

In other matches, Kariobangi sharks saw off Mathare United 3-2, Bandari defeated Vihiga United 2-0, while AFC Leopards played to a one-all draw with Zoo Kericho.

Meanwhile, FKF Division One side Muhoroni Youth has lost striker Jonathan Juma through an accident; the club has announced in a statement on Twitter

According to reports from SR Kisumu, the player was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital after the motorbike which he was boarding got involved in an accident.

Otto, as he is commonly known, previously featured for the now-defunct Kisumu’s Griffins FC in the FKF Division One and scored a goal in his sides’ clash on Sunday.
