Gusii Starlets head coach Lai Oyori is confident his charges will continue their impressive form in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women’s Division One Zone B League and qualify for the 2020 FKF Women’s Premier League.
Oyari was speaking after watching his team record a barren draw against Solasa Stima Queens at the weekend.
After a resounding start to the 2019 season where they thrashed SEP Ladies from Oyugis 5-1 and followed it up with a 6-0 hammering of hosts Bomet Starlets, Gusii travelled to Eldoret on Sunday searching for their third straight victory but the hosts halted their run.
The draw saw Gusii surrender their top spot, dropping to second place on the table with seven points but Oyori remains confident that promotion to the top tier will be sealed.
On track
“It is two points dropped but nothing much is lost. We are on track and I am confident of being promoted to the Premier League next season. We are going back to the drawing board to rectify our mistakes ahead of our next match against Nakuru Queens at home,” said Oyori.
Meanwhile, Gusii CEO Ali Mustafha has filed a complaint to Football Kenya Federation, accusing Solasa Stima of fielding an ineligible player.
Elsewhere, a 1-0 win over bottom-placed Bomet Starlets saw Bunyore Starlets dislodge Gusii from top spot on the seven-team table with nine points from three matches while Nakuru West Queens maintained third place, three points adrift from as many games.
SEP Oyugis FC recorded their maiden win of the season after beating hosts Bulemia Ladies 1-0 to move to fourth place with three points while Solasa Stima are fifth with a point as Bulemia Ladies and Bomet Starlets remain pointless.
