Politics 05:17 Saturday March 2, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly instructed Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, to find a man of integrity who will replace corrupt Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General, John Njiraini.
Uhuru is planning to fire Njiraini after he was linked to rogue businessman, Humphrey Kariuki, who has allegedly evaded tax worth Sh 3 billion. According to Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kariuki has been evading tax with the help of Njiraini and other top KRA hyenas. Word has it that with the merging of NIC and Commercial Bank of Africa associated with the Kenyatta family, John Gachora, the group’s managing director of NIC is being considered to replace Njiraini. NIC chairman James Ndegwa, who is close to the Kenyattas, is pushing for Gachora’s appointment as a soft landing ground. Initially, plans were to have Kenya Commercial Bank CEO Joshua Oigara land the plum slot but that was shelved. Some cartels in State House rejected Oigara saying he doesn’t come from “the region” where Njiraini comes from.
