They say old is gold, and as time goes by, we must acknowledge the role legendary music groups such as boy II men played.
The music group listed below are some of the bands that influenced some of the new music bands we know today.
Jagged Edge
Jagged Edge is an American R&B group signed through Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Records. This was after the group was discovered by Kandi Burruss of Xscape group. The group’s members include identical twin lead singers Brandon and Brian Casey as well as Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo. In addition to singing, the Casey brothers have also written for Usher, Nivea and Toni Braxton.
They recorded an episode of TV One’s Unsung series in 2017 as they released their ninth album The Layover the following day when the series premiere. At the moment each members are doing solo projects. To date their timeless hit single is “Where the Party At” among others.
Boys II Men
Boyz II Men is an American R&B male vocal group, best known for emotional ballads and acappella harmonies. They are currently a trio composed of Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman. During the 1990s, Boyz II Men found fame on Motown Records as a quartet including bass Michael McCary, who left the group in 2003 due to health issues.
They continued performing worldwide as a trio with their recent album being Under The Streetlight released in 2017. They performed in the Broad Streets in Philadelphia near the High School of the Creative and performing Arts where the members schooled in June 2017.
B2K
B2K was an American R&B boy band that was active from 1998 to 2004. In 1998, the group was formed by American record producer Chris Stokes. The group members were Omarion the first lead vocalist, Raz B the second lead vocalist, Lil Fizz the back up rapper and J Boog the back up vocalist, song-writer and co-choreographer. The song ‘Girlfriend’ is one of their most popular songs.
In 2003, the group was cast in the movie You Got Served along Marques Houston who together with Omarion played the leading role in the movie. The other actors included Jerome Jones, TV host Steve Harvey actresses Meagan Good and Jennifer Freeman. The movie stars Houston and Omarion acted as the lead members of a dance crew that compete in a competition, with the members of B2K as the rest of their crew members. Currently Omarion is the only one still singing while the rest of the B2K members ventured into other businesses.
K-Ci and Jojo
K-Ci & JoJo is an American R&B group consisting of brothers Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and his younger one Joel “JoJo” Hailey. Natives of Monroe, North Carolina, they are the lead singers of the R&B group Jodeci with the DeGrate brothers—Donald better known as DeVante Swing and Dalvin. K-Ci & JoJo. Their most popular song is ‘Tell Me It’s Real’
The duo have music blood running in their veins since they come from a musical family. They are related to vocalists Stephanie Mills, Dave Hollister, Calvin Richardson – the winner of American Idol third season Fantasia Barrino and Ricco Barrino. In 2010, they signed a deal with R&B artist Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds’ upstart Soda Pop Records. On June 25, 2013, they released new single, “Knock It Off” via iTunes.
