Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has suffered defeat in his bid to save Glad Tidings Crusade Ministry in Buru Buru from demolition.

This came as the High Court ruled that the Sh100 million contested land rightfully belongs to Nairobi businessman Peter Nderitu.

The court further gave orders to allow Mr Nderitu to demolish the church structures that are illegally erected on his property, under tight security from the police.

During court proceedings, it emerged that the church had sold the property to Mr Nderitu on July 30, 2018 with an agreement to deliver all transfer documents within three months to Landmark International Properties which is owned by Nderitu.

The businessman would later discover that the church had placed a caution on the property which prevented the registrar of lands from processing documents to show Nderitu as the rightful owner of the property.

Governor Sonko had fiercely protected the church in May when the businessman sought to clear the illegal structures and the county government had moved to court to bar Nderitu from further action against the church.

The Governor went ahead to retaliate against the city tycoon by demolishing his business complex within Nairobi CBD.
