Hockey: Butali Warriors move top of KHU Premier League : The standard Sports

Defending champions Butali Warriors on Sunday moved top of the Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League after defeating Parkroad Badgers 2-0 at City Park.

Festus Onyango bagged a brace in the game as the sugar men moved top with seven points.

Butali drew 2-2 with Kenya police last weekend and were aiming to bounce back. In their season opener, the sugar men thrashed Greensharks 3-0.

Sailors on Saturday kicked off their 2022 Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s Premier League campaign on a high note after thrashing visiting Western Jaguars 3-0 at the City Park Stadium in Nairobi.

Douglas Nyerere, Felix Opola and Titus Ngolia were on target for Sailors who move second in the log with three points, a point behind Kenya Police, defending champions Butali Warriors and USIU-A men.

On Sunday, Western Jaguars redeemed themselves after a shocking 2-1 win over Police.

In the men’s KHU Super League, Mvita XI came from behind to hold Nakuru to a 1-1 draw.

Dolcan Mugaisi scored in the 32nd minute before captain Ismail Abdulahi equalised in the 58th minute as the two sides shared the spoils.

Wazalendo Masters got the better off Parkroad Tigers 2-1 in another Super League match.

Erick Ochieng and Gideon Kimoge scored in the first half for Wazalendo before Langat Langata got tiger’s consolation goal.
