Impala Saracens swat away feeble Blak Blad challenge

A dominant Impala Saracens on Saturday temporarily put aside their grief as they thumped a lacklustre Blak Blad 38-19 in a Kenya Cup match played at Ruaraka Sports Club.

Impala have had gloomy week after their utility back Richard Sidindi drowned at the club's swimming pool on Monday morning. The teams observed a minute of silence in memory of the former Kisumu RFC back who has been at Impala Club for the last eight years.

First half tries from Billy Omondi, Samson Onsomu and Davis Makori gave Impala a 24-3 half time lead. Lionel Anjelity kicked a penalty for students.

In the second half Impala continued from where they left with Omondi getting a brace after being played in by Omer who picked up a loose ball in the midfield. Samuel Mutari scored the final Impala try with half back Xavier Bett kicking the conversion.

A profligate Anjelity kicked two more penalties before speedster Archadius Kwesa scord a quick fire brace for a 38-19 final score.

Impala now have 33 points from 12 matches and move above Stanbic Mwamba on the log before Kulabu play Kenya Harlequins later on Saturday.
