Italian abductor’s wife arrested in Tarasaa village, Tana River County





The kidnapped volunteer was attached to Africa Milele Onlus, an NGO operating in the area.


Security officers have arrested the wife of one of the abductors of Italian aid worker Silvia Romano at Tarasaa village in Tana Delta Sub County, Tana River County.

Confirming the arrest, Coast Regional Co-ordinator Benard Leparamai said that an in law of Said Adan Abdi was also arrested in an operation carried out on Sunday.

Leparamai added that they followed leads to Tarasaa using phone conversations through Abdi and his wife Elima.

Security has been beefed up in Tana Delta Sub County where it is believed the abductors might be hiding with their hostage.

He cautioned members of the public against profiling some communities over the incident adding that criminals are individuals and not a combined community.

Police have offered three million shillings reward for information leading to the arrest of three men accused of abducting an Italian volunteer from Kilifi, in the coastal region.


Police have also identified two motorbikes suspected to have been used as the gateway conveyance and are calling on Moses Suleiman Mbogo and Joseph Bakuna Kazungu whom the motorcycles were sold to, to report to the nearest police station for questioning.

A contigent of security personnel comprising the KDF,Police,GSU have been tracking the suspects who are believed to be hiding in the forest.

The Italian aid worker a volunteer at Milele Africa was abducted last Tuesday in Chakama area, Kilifi County.
