This brought to ten the number of people who have died along the highway in the last one week, with five people dying on Sunday following an accident involving a bus and personal car.

In the latest accident, the driver of the personal car who died while undergoing treatment was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when he rammed head on into the incoming lorry.

A witness, Owen Njuguna, said that on impact, the driver of the personal car was thrown out while the lorry rolled blocking a section of the road.

“Two occupants of the car and the conductor of the lorry were seriously injured and rushed to hospital where the driver died while being treated,” he said.

Meanwhile, police in Naivasha are seeking a retired Chief who stabbed and killed a man following a difference in one of the estates on Thursday night.

The Chief, who has since gone into hiding, allegedly stabbed the deceased on the chest once, leaving him bleeding profusely during the incident near Sanctuary estate.

The victim said to be a casual laborer was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby health center as police mounted a search for the chief.

According to a witness James Gitahi, the two were in a group of revelers drinking in one of the bars when an argument arose.

Gitahi said that the two engaged in a heated exchange of words before the government officer whipped out a knife and stabbed the victim on the chest.

“The two left the bar and started arguing outside before the temperamental former Chief used a knife to stab the victim and escaped using the cover of darkness,” he said.

He added that the man who was bleeding profusely died minutes before arriving at a nearby health center where he had been rushed for treatment.
