Work on Kamariny Stadium stalled since 2017

Athletes who use Kamariny stadium for training have a reason to smile after the national government gave an assurance that stalled works in the stadium will be completed in the next four months.

Sports Chief Administrative Secretary Hassan Noor who was on an inspection tour of the facility said the national government had allocated enough funds through the National Sports Fund.

He, therefore, assured the contractor that he will be paid and called on him to hasten the works to ensure that athletes have a place to train.

Noor said majority of the athletes from the county come from humble backgrounds with no facilities to train nor coaches but despite the hardships, they have brought the country great honour internationally and therefore the need to support them.

He said the stadium not only offers established athletes a place to train and enhance their performance but also provides an opportunity to nurture upcoming athletes.

Works in the stadium have stalled since 2017 due to budgetary constraints which affected the training of many of the athletes who are forced to train on the roadside.
