KenGen Ksh 3.3m PuP a Huge boost to locals

In the wake of unprecedented natural calamities, A publicpublic partnership (PUP) between Nakuru County government and the Kenya Electricity Generating Company, PLC is set to boost vulnerable communities with food donations and other relief supplies.

On May 23, 2020 Nakuru County government announced that they had received supplies worth KSh 3.3 million shillings from KenGen. The donations which were received on Friday May 22,2020 by the Nakuru County Governor, Deputy Governor, Dr. Erick Korir will be distributed to communities living within the Olkaria area in Naivasha.

“We have come together as management and employees to positively impact lives of every individuals and families who are facing challenges brought about by natural disasters such as flooding and the corona virus disease pandemic…. from the beginning of this month to date we have made donations of over Ksh 30 million towards disaster response and Covid-19 related donations, “read a statement from the power supplier.

Nakuru County’s Deputy governor thanked the firm’s Managing Director- Ms Rebecca Miano, Chairperson of the KenGen Collective Social Responibility (CSR) team and the board were thanked for the thoughtful donations that they made to residents of Nakuru.
Reportedly, the power generation company earlier contributions have totaled Ksh 30 million. The contributions have gone a long way in supporting communities and families living in  Tana Delta, Turkwel, Machakos, Garissa, West Pokot, Turkana, Kitui, Homabay, Kisumu, Nakuru, Lamu and Migori.

Ms Rebecca Miano said that the organization has made, and continues to make deliberate effort to improve the lives of communities, especially those living near the company’s installations.
