Kenya records 176 new COVID-19 cases as four more deaths recorded

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 176 new cases of COVID-19, raising the country’s total confirmed cases to 6,366.

The patients are from a sample size of 2,419 tested in the last 24 hours.

According to Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman, all the latest cases are Kenyans.

100 of the new patients are male while 76 are female.

The youngest is a 3-year-old child while the oldest is 78.

Nairobi has 99 cases, Mombasa 20, Kiambu 17, Migori 13, Uasin Gishu 10, Kajiado 4, Busia 4, Kilifi 3, Machakos 2, Narok 1, Kakamega 1 and Kisumu 1.

The distribution of the cases by sub-counties is as follows: In Nairobi, the 99 cases are in Dagoretti North 24, Starehe 16, Westlands 15, Embakasi East 13, Kibra 7, Makadara 5, Kasarani 4, Langata 3, Embakasi Central 2, Dagoretti North, Embakassi South, Mathare and Roysambu have one case each.

In Mombasa, the 20 cases are in Mvita 7, Kisauni 5, Changamwe 5, Jomvu 2 and Likoni 1 case.

In Kiambu, the 17 cases are in Kiambaa 7, Kikuyu 5, Ruiru 3, Juja and Thika one case each.

In Migori, the 13 cases are in Kuria West 11, and Suna East 2 while in Uasin Gishu the cases are in Ainabkoi 7 and Turbo 3.

In Kajiado, the cases are in Kajiado East 2, and Kajiado North 2 while in Busia the cases are in Matayos 2 and Teso North 2.

In Kilifi, the cases are in Kilifi North 2 and Magarini 1 while in Makueni the 2 cases are in Kibwezi West.

In Machakos the one case is in Athi River, in Narok the case is in Narok West, in Kisumu the case is in Kisumu Central while in Kakamega the case is in Malava.

Total cumulative samples tested since March now stands at 169,836.

In the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 death toll in the country has risen to 148 after four more patients succumbed to the virus.

However, in the same period, 26 patients were discharged bringing total recoveries to 2,039.
