Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo is not ‘exceptionally skilled’ like Lionel Messi, according to Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who stressed that the Argentine and Barcelona’s playmaker is ‘on a different level to anyone else.’
According to Goal.com citing DAZN, the two football legends have battled over the last 10 years, who is at the top of the global game.
Both stars have claimed five Ballons d’Or awards each and have set countless records to the archives, while taking individual excellence to a different level.
The two stars were involved in series of direct competition in the Spanish topflight with Messi starring for Barca while Ronaldo ensured his name was a reference point at Real Madrid.
Interestingly, the Portuguese star completed a switch to Juventus last summer from Los Blancos, but the battle regarding the greatest between the pair ranges on.
Already, the duo has reached a 600-goal landmark at club level, but they are still eager to claim more major silverwares with their clubs.
However, Gundogan, insists Messi is more talented of the pair and remains “world class” in all ramification.
“For me he has always been on a different level to anyone else," the Germany star was quoted as saying by DAZN.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the world class player after Messi, but for me he is not on this Galactico level of Messi," he added.
At the moment, Messi is firing across all competitions in the 2018-19 campaign, with the Argentine reaching his 40-goal barrier for a 10th straight season at Camp Nou.
On the other hand, Ronaldo has emerged the first player to cart home the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A titles, but could not help the Old Lady’s to success in European and domestic cup.
Messi has also secured another La Liga title – his 10th so far, – a seventh Copa del Rey success and fifth Champions League silverware are still on course as Barca continue their quest for a treble this campaign.
