Despite finishing sixth in the league last season, United had an arguably underwhelming summer transfer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer making just three signings the entire window.
The club further witnessed departures of key squad members including Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera who left in a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
Surprisingly, the Red Devils did not sign any replacements for the two, with Solskjaer making clear his intention to integrate youngsters in the senior squad.
Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe and Tahith Chong are some of the academy players who shone during the pre-season.
Be that as it may, though, the best the trio can make against Chelsea is as substitutes, with new signings Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire all expected to walk straight into the starting line-up.
The main injury concerns include Eric Bailly and Tim Fosu-Mensah, while Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to feature as he recovers from injury.
Meanwhile, David De Gea, despite not signing a new deal as yet is expected to start between the sticks, with Luke Shaw playing on the left.
The introduction of Wan-Bissaka will see Ashley Young warm the bench as the former Crystal Palace star takes the right-back position.
Victor Lindelof and Maguire are expected to play in central defence, with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay who had a great pre-season starting alongside the Frenchman in the midfield.
United’s front four presents exciting, youthful and extremely quick frontline even in the absence of Romelu Lukaku.
Marcus Rashford will be down as the main striker, with Jesse Lingard sitting just in behind ina No.10 role.
Daniel James will start over on the right with Anthony Martial who snapped the No.9 shirt playing on the left.
