Michael Olunga has registered a new milestone in Japan after scoring a sensational hat-trick on Saturday afternoon, August 10, to power Kashiwa Reysol to a 4-1 win over Renofa Yamaguchi.

This is Olunga's first hat-tick in Japan since signing for Kashiwa over a year ago, in a deal that saw him end a loan spell with Spanish side Girona and also terminate contract with Chinese side, Guizhou Zhicheng.

The towering forward scored the opener in the Japanese second-tier match within just three minutes of game play, before doubling the lead at the hour mark.

However, the visitors pulled one back moments later, before Cristiano da Silva extending the lead in the 69th minute.

Olunga went on to grab his magnificent treble of the day at stoppage time as the homeside marched to a 4-1 win.

The Kenyan international took to social media soon after to celebrate the rare feat, thanking fans for supporting him all through.

“Thank you God, all glory is yours. The fans were amazing, thank you for the support.” he posted across all his social media platforms.

Olunga is enjoying fine form with the Japanese outfit and has since scored 11 goals in 18 appearances for the team this season.

Meanwhile, his side's victory saw them cement their place at the top of the log with 55 points, four ahead of second-placed Kyoto Sanga.
