NSE Equity turnover declines 2.2% to KSh 567 million

The NSE posted a marginal decline in daily equity turnover to KSh 567m from the previous day’s KSh 580m, a fall of 2.2%, while the number of shares traded increased to 27 m from the previous day’s 16 m.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) Derivatives market had the N25I Mini contract expiring on 15th Sep 2022 traded one contract valued at KSh30,000 at a price of KSh3055.

The NSE 20 share Index was up 1.65 points to stand at 1678.69, while the NSE All-Share Index (NASI) picked up 1.16 points to settle at 130.18. The NSE 25 Share Index was up 28.39 points to settle at 3052.16.

The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh 89m transacted, which accounted for 15.75% of the day’s traded value.

KCB Group moved 627,000 shares valued at KSh23m between KSh36.50 and KSh 38.50.

The Co-operative Bank moved 1.8m shares valued at KSh20.5m and closed at KSh11.45. NCBA Group edged up 0.57% to KSh 26.45 with shares worth KSh 20.5m transacted.

The Commercial & Services sector had shares valued at KSh 18.9m traded, representing 3.33% of the day’s traded value. Nairobi Business Ventures closed 6.90% higher to KSh 3.10 on a volume of 6m shares valued at KSh18.6m.

The Construction & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh1.64m, representing 0.29% of the day’s traded value. Bamburi Cement traded 43,000 shares valued at KSh 1.5m at between KSh 35.10 and KSh 36.55.

The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh 29m traded, representing 5.16% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 205,000 shares worth KSh 28.9m at the price of KSh141.00.

Safaricom was the day’s main feature, with 15m shares valued at KSh 418m changing hands at between KSh 26.55 and KSh 27.25; this represented 73.64% of the day’s traded value.

The Fixed Income Securities Market Segment had bonds worth KSh 1.6billion transacted.

The day’s top price gainer was Home Afrika which rose 9.68% to KSh 0.34, while the worst performer was Olympia, which declined by 8.22% to KSh 2.01 from the previous KSh 2.19.
