The country was thrown into panic when Baringo Senator Gideon Moi for the first time publicly asked for special prayers for his ailing father, former President Daniel Moi.

Gideon was quick to add that his father’s health was not at its best, but remain thankful for constant prayers from Kenyans adding it’s through such prayers and thoughts that he has been improving day by day.

Mzee Moi, 95, has been admitted at The Nairobi Hospital at least three times this year and only his long-serving Press Secretary, Mr Lee Njiru, has issued press statements on his health.

The senator issued his remarks on Friday while presiding over Kabarak University’s 15th graduation ceremony. He urged Kenyans to continue praying for his father.

Of late,  Gideon and other notable members of the Moi family have remained scarce in the public domain, ostensibly focusing on the deteriorating health of the former head of state, who ruled for a record 24 years.

Sources told Weekly Citizen that Mzee Moi had rejected an idea to have him stay longer in the hospital but wanted to soldier on from the comfort of his home.

Eyes brows were raised following  conspicuous absence of Gideon during the launch of BBI at the Bomas of Kenya, despite speculations that he was among the marked potential beneficiary of the development.
