Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has a fairly youthful managerial career but the Frenchman is already considering calling it quits.

Having led Los Blancos to three consecutive Champions League titles, Zidane walked away from the job in 2018 only to come back a year later after both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari failed to impress the board.

Prior to taking up the big job, Zidane used to manage Real Madrid Castilla.

In his first full season with the Spanish giants, Zidane is well on course for a famous La Liga title as Real Madrid are top of the table, two points ahead of Barcelona.

Needless to say, the La Liga title race is one of the most intense in recent years, and it could be taking a toll on the one-time Ballon d’Or winner.

As a matter of fact, he is not looking to pursue a managerial career which spans decades.

“I won’t coach for 20 years. I’ll retire before that,” Zidane said ahead of Real’s clash with Espanyol this tonight. I’m an unusual coach, anything could happen. I’m not planning anything. It’s the day-to-day that excites me. For how long, I don’t know,” he explained in the presser before the Espanyol game.

According to Zidane, he is more of a player than a coach and despite having reservations about taking up a managerial role, he took the risk.

“In my head I’ve always been a player. I played for 18 or 19 years, and after that when people asked me if I’d be a coach, I said no,” he said in the presser prior to the Espanyol game. Then I decided to become one. This really wears you out. It won’t be 20 years, that’s for sure.” He went on.

Notably, Zidane has transformed the team this season as Real Madrid have only conceded 21 goals this season.
