Rugby Legend and Russia Sevens Head Coach Waisale Serevi, has praised the growth of the sport in the country, crediting it for Russia’s decision to participate in this year’s edition of the Safari 7s.

The annual event, which has attracted more than 12 teams, will be held on the 18th to the 20th of October at the RFUEA Grounds and will see Samurai defend the title they won last year after beating Shujaa 21-14 in the Final.

Serevi, who was the Safari 7s chief guest in 2005, returned to Kenya last week with the Russian 7s side, ahead of this year’s tournament set for the 18th-20th of October at the RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.

Meanwhile, Serevi, who is considered to be the greatest rugby sevens player in the history of the game, has expressed his disappointment in his home country, after Fiji failed to qualify for the Quarter Finals of the ongoing Rugby World Cup in Japan.
