Politics 02:45 Thursday November 29, 2018-A vocal Jubilee Party governor has been accused of spending Sh 30 million to buy condoms instead of using the money to equip county hospitals with drugs.
Addressing the press on Wednesday , Embu county MCAs said Governor, Martin Wambora, on Monday flagged off a truck purportedly containing medicine, but on opening the consignments, hospitals only found condoms. “It is sad that residents are in need of drugs but the county has the audacity to ferry a canter full of condoms to the health facilities,” said Mr. Mwaniki, who is MCA for Kiambere Ward.' Kiambere, who is also the leader of Majority, lamented that the county had gone to a great length to oversupply hospitals with condoms, but never made any attempt to supply basic painkillers. Kagaari South MCA Robert Ireri supported the Minority Leader by confirming that he had seen several boxes full of red condom sachets at Ugweri Hospital, yet the medical facility was facing an acute shortage of medicine. When contacted for comment, Wambora remained mum on the issue.
