Kenya international Oscar Denis scored his first try in his career to help Shujaa win their first pool match of the season defeating Wales 19-14 at the National Stadium, Singapore on Saturday.
Paul ‘Pau’Murunga charges scored three tries converting two against Wales two converted tries.
It was a tense clash between Kenya and Wales with both putting a try apiece on the board feeling the intensity and magnitude of meeting sides that are so close in the world series standings.
Shujaa played a magnificent passing game in the first minutes with winger Vincent Onyola passing the goal line to score a try, Daniel Taabu converting it for a 7-0 lead.
Wales youngster Ryan Conbeer scored one back for Wales with Davies converting it to make it 7-7.
Oscar Dennis who made Kenya debut on series in Hong Kong last weekend, raced in for a 40-metre try.
The side worked in the left edge of the field superbly and punished the misplacement from Wales at the other end.
Taabu converted it to make it 14-7 at half time.
Denis teammates congratulated him sharing the moment with him.
Outstanding Daniel Taabu scored his third try in Singapore missing the conversion to make it 19-7.
Wales scored a converted try in the last minute but wasn’t enough to help them match the 2016 Singapore Champions strength.
Earlier they lost 36-7 to Hong Kong bronze medalist England and 17-14 to Mike Friday’s USA.
